Kitano Takeshi (Japanese: Kitano Takeshi/I came Takeshi, Romanized: Kitano Takeshi; January 18, 1947 -) is a Japanese comedian who was born in Shimane, Adachi Ward, Tokyo. Originally working under the name of the comedy duo "Two Beat" with Jiro Kaneko, he later became a film director, actor, and TV host, and became internationally famous as a film director. In his usual performing arts activities, Takeshi Kitano mostly uses the stage name Peter Takeshi (Beat Takeshi, Bīto Takeshi, English: Beat Takeshi; or translated as Beat Takeshi), and rarely uses his real name. Together with Tamori and Akashi Sword, he is known as the three giants of Japanese comedians.
