Nakadai Tatsuya (Japanese: Nakadai Tatsuya/Nakadai Tatsuya, Romanized: Nakadai Tatsuya, December 13, 1932 - November 8, 2025), whose real name was Nakadai Motohisa, was a Japanese actor and singer born in Tokyo City (now Meguro District, Tokyo). Born as an actor in a theater troupe, he is committed to cultivating new talents in the "Wu Ming School". He has always been involved in both stage plays and film and television dramas, and is a figure who represents the level of post-war Japan in these two fields. He has performed in the works of many famous film directors, including Kihachi Okamoto, Akira Kurosawa, Masaki Kobayashi, Hideo Gosha, Mikio Naruse, Kei Kumai, Keisuke Kinoshita, and Masahiro Shinoda. It is almost impossible to find a director in the Japanese film industry who has not collaborated with him. The movie "Shadow Warriors" starring in it won the Palme d'Or at the Cannes International Film Festival. The films he starred in have won four Academy Awards and awards from the world's three major film festivals (Cannes Film Festival, Venice Film Festival, and Berlin Film Festival). In 2007, he was elected as a cultural meritorious person.
