Although he never formally participated in the Dadaist and Surrealist movements, he made significant contributions to both movements. Known for his avant-garde and surreal photography style, he is also a renowned fashion photographer and portrait photographer. Man Ray is also famous for his contribution to the development of "photogram", which he called "Rayograph".
