Johann Baptist Strauss I (German: Johann Baptist Strauß I, March 14, 1804 - September 25, 1849), often called Johann Strauss the Elder, was an Austrian composer who popularized the waltz with Joseph Lanner and laid the foundation for the outstanding achievements of his son, Johann Strauss Jr., and is known as the "Father of the Waltz". His most famous waltz is "Loreley the Rhine" (Opus 154), while his most famous work is the "Radetzky March" (Opus 228). With the efforts of him and other composers, the waltz (waltz) developed from a country dance in four or three beats to a new musical form with great influence, consisting of five small waltzes that follow each other, a short conclusion and an exciting ending. However, his son Johann Strauss the Younger further developed this musical form, and his use of orchestration in waltzes was bolder and more extensive than that of his father.
