Phillip David Charles Collins (English: Phillip David Charles Collins, January 30, 1951 -), British male singer-songwriter, musician, record producer and actor. The drummer and vocalist of the fusion jazz group Brand X and the rock group Genesis. Grammy award winner. He is also the father of actress Lily Collins. When Genesis was formed in 1967, unprecedented progressive rock became popular, but it failed to occupy a place in the mainstream music scene until the introduction of drummer Phil Collins in 1970. For several years, he competed with Peter Gabriel. Peter Gabriel felt that his advantages in the band were slowly being overshadowed, so he left the band five years later. From then on, it was the undeniable era of Phil Collins. In addition to playing drums, he also took over the position of lead singer. Since then, the band has gradually moved towards commercialization, but has not abandoned its original intention of progressive rock. At that time, Phil was once married, but his first wife suddenly left him because he neglected his family in order to sing. So he stopped working for a while and went to Canada to try to save the marriage, but he returned to the UK. Entering the 1980s, Genesis was gaining momentum, and Phil expressed his intention to develop both personally and as a band, so he signed a contract with Atlantic Records in 1980 and collaborated with producer Hugh Padgham. In the more than ten years since the release of the album "Duke" and his first solo album "Face Value", he has had at least one or two annual masterpieces every year, and he is well-deserved to be named the "King of British Drums". Phil Collins has collaborated with many famous musicians. He is best known as the producer of Eric Clapton's two albums. He has also participated in many songs by George Harrison, Paul McCartney, Robert Plant, Mike Oldfield, Sting, John Cale, Brian Eno, Peter Gabriel and Ravi Shankar. Most of his singles are related to lost love, from the drum-focused "In the Air Tonight" to the dance music "Sussudio" or the political-related "Another"
