Prince Rogers Nelson (June 7, 1958 - April 21, 2016), whose stage name is Prince, was born in Minneapolis, Minnesota, United States. He was an American male singer, musician, and actor. He also served as the vice president of Warner Bros. Records in the United States. Prince is one of the representative figures of American pop music in the 1980s. His music spans multiple styles and is widely regarded as a musical genius and artist, including funk, pop, rock, rhythm and blues, soul and hip-hop; he created and defined the "Minneapolis Sound". He single-handedly wrote, composed, and produced most of the songs, and played most of the instruments on the album; he is also known for having composed hundreds of unpublished songs under pseudonyms. Because he was a perfectionist and strictly protective of his music, Prince was also considered difficult to work with. He was also one of the few artists who resisted YouTube, so it was difficult to find his complete works on YouTube before his death. He has used several stage names. Between 1993 and 2000, Prince changed his stage name to an unpronounceable symbol "". Prince was also an early artist who abbreviated English words and incorporated them into popular music, such as: 4 (for), U (you), etc. Prince's total album sales exceed 100 million copies worldwide, making him one of the best-selling music artists. He also writes songs for other artists, some of which have topped the charts multiple times.
