Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar (English: Belcalis Marlenis Almánzar, born October 11, 1992), formerly Cephus, stage name Cardi B, is an American rapper known for her outspoken and bold public image and lyrics. Born and raised in New York City, Cardi B gained early attention through Vine, Instagram, and as a guest on the VH1 reality show Love & Hip Hop: New York. Cardi B released two mixtapes between 2016 and 2017. In 2018, she released her first studio album "Invasion of Privacy", which debuted on the Billboard 200 album chart, setting a record for the highest streaming week for a female rap artist album in history, and becoming the highest-selling and highest-certified female rap artist album in the 21st century. "Rolling Stone" named it the best debut album by a female rap singer in history. This album also made Cardi B the first female artist in history to win the Grammy Award for "Best Rap Album" for a solo work. The album's singles "Bodak Yellow" and "I Like It" topped the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and were certified as diamond-level by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA); the former made Cardi B the first female rapper in the 21st century to top the Hot 100 singles chart with a solo song and the first to receive a diamond-certified single, while the latter made her the first female rapper to have multiple number-one singles. Her third US number one single - 2018's "Girl Like You" with Maroon 1 - also made her the first female rapper to have multiple RIAA Diamond-certified songs. Cardi B's second album "Am I the Drama?" (2025) makes her the only female rapper in history whose first two albums both topped the Billboard 200 album chart. At the same time, this album is also the highest-selling female rap artist album in the 2020s. The album has a total of 18 songs on the Billboard Hot 100, making it the most chart-topping album by a female rap artist in history, and the fastest album in history to be certified platinum. The album contains the US top ten single "Outside" and two US number one singles "Wet Little Cutie" and "Up", making the album tied with "Invasion of Privacy" as the most popular
