Freddie Mercury
Freddie Mercury, formerly known as Farooq Bulsara, was an Indian-British male singer-songwriter, best known as the lead singer and pianist of the rock band Queen. As a performer, he was known for his flamboyant style and a voice that spanned four octaves. As a songwriter, he wrote some of Queen's most popular songs, such as "Bohemian Rhapsody," "Killer Queen," "Somebody to Love," "Don't Stop Me Now" and "Crazy Little Thing Called Love." In addition to being a member of Queen, he has his own solo singing career and occasionally serves as a producer and guest artist (singing or piano) for other artists. On November 24, 1991, just one day after he disclosed his AIDS status, he died of bronchopneumonia caused by it.
