Nina Simone (February 21, 1933 - April 21, 2003), formerly known as Eunice Kathleen Waymon, was an American singer, composer and pianist. Although most people think of her as a great jazz diva, Nina doesn't like to be classified as such. Her songwriting genres mainly include blues, rhythm and blues, and soul. Her singing style is characterized by emotional and breathy tremolo.
