Marilyn Monroe
Musicians · United States
Marilyn Monroe (English: Marilyn Monroe, born Norma Jean Mortensen, June 1, 1926 - August 5, 1962), American actress, model and singer. Best known for her comedic roles as the "blonde chick," Marilyn Monroe was one of the most popular sex symbols of the 1950s and early 1960s and became a symbol of the sexual revolution of the era. Marilyn Monroe became an A-list actress for only ten years, but she died in an accident in 1962. Her movies have grossed $200 million at the box office. She continued to be regarded as a major pop culture icon long after her death. In 1999, the American Film Institute named Marilyn Monroe one of the greatest legendary screen actresses of the Golden Age of Hollywood, ranking sixth. Marilyn Monroe was born and raised in Los Angeles, spent much of her childhood in foster homes and orphanages, and was married at the age of 16. In 1944, Marilyn Monroe joined the war effort and entered a factory. There she met a photographer and began a successful career as a pin-up model. The job led to two short-term film contracts with Twentieth Century Fox (1946-1947) and Columbia Pictures (1948). After a series of small roles, she signed a new contract with Fox in 1951. In the next two years, she starred in movies such as "The Cardamom Years", "Elixir of Love", "Clash of the Night", "No Knocking" and became a popular actress. After Marilyn Monroe became famous, the exposure of nude photos taken in her early years did not harm her career. On the contrary, the anecdote increased interest in her films. In 1953, Marilyn Monroe became one of the Hollywood stars with the most box-office appeal by starring in three movies. Among them, the noir film "Falling Water" showed her sexiness; the comedies "Gentlemen Prefer Blondes" and "Blondes" shaped her star image as a "silly blonde". Although she was instrumental in creating and managing her public image throughout her career, she remains frustrated that studios stereotyped and underpaid her. In early 1954, her career took a brief hiatus when she turned down a film project, but she returned to star in The Seven Year Itch (1955), which became one of the most successful films of her career. With the studio still unwilling to change the contract, Marilyn Monroe formed a film production company, Marilyn Monroe Productions (MMP), in late 1954.

Richard Strauss
Musicians · Germany
Richard Georg Strauss (German: Richard Georg Strauss, June 11, 1864 - September 8, 1949), German composer and conductor. Strauss was deeply influenced by the "New Germanic School" (Neudeutsche Schule) headed by Liszt and Wagner. He is considered the last inheritor of the German and Austrian musical traditions and a representative composer of late Romanticism. He is often referred to as Mahler. Strauss's early works have typical romantic characteristics; the symphonic poem "Don Juan" written in 1888 uses richer semitones, showing a different "carnival-like" style, and is regarded as a representative work of his late romantic style. After that, he continued to explore the possibility of chromaticism and harmony in his works. "Salome" and "Electra", which were premiered in 1905 and 1909 respectively, were the peak of this trend and laid a considerable foundation for modernist music. Starting with Der Rosenkavalier in 1911, Strauss's operas have returned to their original stability, both in terms of material selection and style. During the second half of Strauss's creative career, his work was often seen as old-fashioned and outdated. Strauss has extremely excellent contrapuntal writing skills and orchestration skills, and the texture of almost all his works is very complex. Strauss served as the director of the Imperial Conservatoire of Nazi Germany in 1933. He later resigned in 1935 due to disagreements between Jewish musicians and the Nazi authorities. After the war, he was under scrutiny and was not officially clarified by the government until 1948. In fact, he had been under surveillance by the Nazi government due to his creation of "Electra" which dealt with the topic of the Electra complex, his collaboration with the Jewish writer Zweig in "The Silent Woman", and his daughter-in-law being Jewish. He has no connection with the Viennese Strauss family, represented by Johann Strauss the Younger, and is sometimes referred to by his full name, Richard Strauss, to distinguish him. He was also godfather and teacher to score composer Max Steiner.
Richard Wagner

Wilhelm Richard Wagner (German: Wilhelm Richard Wagner, pronunciation: [ˈvɪlˌhɛlm ˈʁɪçaʁt ˈvaːɡnɐ]; May 22, 1813 – February 13, 1883) was a German composer, theater director, essayist, and conductor. He is best known for his operas, but his mature works are often called musicals. Unlike most composers, Wagner wrote all the librettos for his stage works himself. He initially gained recognition for his works in the Romantic tradition of Carl Maria von Weber and Giacomo Meyerbeer, but later revolutionized the opera genre with the concept of holistic art, striving to integrate poetry, music, visual and dramatic elements. In this method of composition, the play unfolds as a continuously sung narrative, with the music growing naturally from the text rather than alternating between arias and recitatives. Wagner elaborated these ideas in a series of articles published between 1849 and 1852, and put them into practice most fully in the first half of the tetrad opera "The Ring of the Nibelung". Wagner's works, especially those of his later years, are characterized by complex textures, rich harmonies and orchestrations, and carefully crafted dominant motives: short musical phrases linked to specific characters, places, concepts, or plot elements. His innovations in musical language, such as extreme chromaticization and rapid switching of tonal centers, profoundly influenced the development of classical music; "Tristan und Isolde" is regarded as an important precursor to modernist music. In his later years, he moderated his ideological stance against traditional operatic forms (such as arias, duets, and choruses) and reintroduced these forms in his last stage productions, including Die Meistersinger of Nuremberg and Parsifal. In order to fully realize his artistic vision, Wagner built his own opera house according to his personal requirements: Bayreuth Festival Theater, which adopted many innovative designs designed to immerse the audience in the drama. "The Ring" and "Parsifal" both premiered here; to this day, the theater is still used only for performances of his mature works at the annual Bayreuth Festival. After Wagner's death, his widow Cosima took over the management of the festival, and management has since been passed on to their descendants. Wagner's unconventional operas, provocative writings, and controversial personal actions aroused great controversy during his lifetime and still do so today. Some people claim that he is a "genius", while others dismiss him as a "disease"; his views on religion, politics, and society are still controversial.
