Wang Guangqi (August 15, 1892 - January 12, 1936), also known as Runyu and Ruoyu, male, was a native of Wenjiang, Chengdu, Sichuan. He was a social activist and musicologist in modern China. He participated in important student movements such as the May 4th Movement at that time, and was also one of the founders of the Young China Society. He also organized student mutual aid groups such as the "Work-Study Mutual Aid Group" and advocated "Work-Study Mutual Aidism." It was while organizing the Work-Study Mutual Aid Group that he met Mao Zedong, and the two had a good relationship. In 1920, he went to Germany to study and advocated "music to save the country". He became the first Chinese musicologist to obtain a doctorate in the West and played a great role in the integration of Chinese and Western music theories.
