Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelenskyi (Ukrainian: Володимир Олександрович Зеленський, Romanized: Volodymyr Oleksandrovych Zelenskyi, pronounced: [woloˈdɪmɪr olekˈsɑndrowɪdʒ‿zeˈlɛnʲsʲkɪj]; January 25, 1978 -; or translated by Ukrainian name Volodymyr Zelensky) Ukrainian politician and former comedian, serving as the sixth president of Ukraine since 2019. He has served as Chairman of the Supreme Command of Ukraine since February 2022 after Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine. Due to the inability to hold general elections during the war, Zelensky has been extended to become Ukraine's second-longest-serving president and the only president with a single term of more than five years. Zelensky was born into a Jewish family in the central Ukrainian city of Krivilih, and his mother tongue is Russian. He obtained a law degree from the Kreverich School of Economics but never practiced law, instead pursuing a career in comedy and entertainment. He founded the production company 95 Block Studios, which produced films, cartoons and television shows, including the TV series "Servant of the People," in which Zelensky played the fictional president of Ukraine. The show aired from 2015 to 2019 and was very popular. In March 2018, employees at Block 95 Studios created a political party with the same name as the TV series. On the evening of December 31, 2018, Zelenskiy announced his participation in the 2019 presidential election while then-President Petro Poroshenko delivered a New Year's Eve speech on TV channel 1+1. A political outsider, he had emerged as one of the front-runners in election polls months before he formally announced his candidacy. He won the second round of the election with 73.23% of the vote, defeating Poroshenko with the largest landslide in the history of Ukrainian presidential elections. Zelensky has positioned himself as an anti-establishment and anti-corruption figure. As president, he has been a supporter of electronic government and the unity of the Ukrainian and Russian populations. He uses social media extensively, especially Instagram. His party won a landslide victory in the snap legislative elections held shortly after he became president. During his first two years in power, Zelensky oversaw the removal of the legal immunity of Ukrainian members of the Verkhovna Rada in parliament, the country's response to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the subsequent economic
