Hu Jintao

Hu Jintao (December 21, 1942 -), whose ancestral home is Jixi, Anhui, was born in Tai County, Jiangsu (now Taizhou, Jiangsu). He was a former national-level leader and graduated from the Department of Water Conservancy Engineering of Tsinghua University. He served as the General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China from 2002 to 2012, the President of the People's Republic of China from 2003 to 2013, and the Chairman of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China and the Chairman of the State Military Commission from 2004 to 2013. He is the top leader of the fourth generation of the Chinese party, government, and military. The central leadership collective during his tenure is known as the "Party Central Committee with Comrade Hu Jintao as General Secretary."
