Christa Deguchi (English: Christa Deguchi, Japanese: Christa/Deguchi Christa, Romanized: Deguchi Christa, October 29, 1995 -) was born in Nagano Prefecture, Japan, and is a Canadian female judoka. Her father is from Canada and is an English lecturer, and her younger sister Kelly Exit (kelly) is also engaged in judo. Krista originally represented Japan. Canada invited her to join the Canadian national team in 2012, but she refused. Later, after realizing the fierce competition in Japan, she officially became a Canadian citizen in 2017 and began to represent Canada, with the goal of participating in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics. In 2018, she participated in the World Championships for the first time and won a bronze medal, becoming the first Canadian female athlete in history to win a World Judo Championship medal. A year later, she went a step further and successfully won the World Championship gold medal, becoming the first Canadian athlete in history to win a World Judo Championship championship.
