Oskar Ryszard Lange (English: Oskar Ryszard Lange, July 27, 1904 - October 2, 1965) was a Polish economist and diplomat. He advocated the use of market pricing tools in the socialist system and proposed the model of market socialism. Responding to the problems of economic calculation posed by Ludwig von Mises and Friedrich Hayek, he argued that managers in a planned economy would be able to monitor supply and demand through increases and decreases in inventories of goods, and argued for the nationalization of major industries. While in the United States, Lange worked as a teacher and researcher in mathematical economics. Later in the Polish People's Republic he became a member of the Central Committee of the Polish United Workers' Party.
