The eldest son of the second generation shogun Tokugawa Hidetada, his mother was Sogenin. Iemitsu had a half-brother named Nagasumaru, who died in infancy. His younger brother Tokugawa Tadanagi (Suruga Danagon); his elder sisters from the same mother are Senhime, Tamahime (Kokohime), Katsuhime, and Hatsuhime; and his younger sister Wahiko (Wakko, whose childhood name was Matsuhime, and the middle palace of Emperor Gomizuo, Higashi Fukumonin). His half-brother Baoke Zhengzhi (born from his side wife A Jingzhi Fang). Her nickname is Takechiyo. The wet nurse is Kasuga Bureau. The brothers are Masakatsu Inaba and Masakichi Inaba (brothers born to Kasuga Bureau). The main wife is Takaji Takashi, the daughter of Guan Baiyingji Nobobo, and there are about eight people in the side rooms. Among the fifteen generations of shoguns of the Tokugawa shogunate, there were shoguns born from the royal family. Although there were three shoguns, including the first Ieyasu, the third Iemitsu, and the last Keiki, among these, only Tokugawa Iemitsu was truly the heir born of his father who was already a shogun and the royal family (Odaisho).
