Obuchi Keizō (Japanese: Keizo Kozue/Obuchi , Romanized: Obuchi Keizō, June 25, 1937 - May 14, 2000), was born in Nakanojo Town, Gunma Prefecture, Japan, and is a Japanese politician. Graduated from the Faculty of Letters of Waseda University, he is the 84th Prime Minister of Japan and belongs to the Liberal Democratic Party. He is nicknamed "Uncle Heisei" in Japan because when he was the Chief Cabinet Secretary of Noboru Takeshita's cabinet, he announced the new era name "Heisei" at a press conference on the afternoon of the day Emperor Showa passed away, and respectfully displayed a cardboard with the new era name written on it. What is less known is that he is also an amateur radio player with the call sign "JI1KIT" and was the president of the Congressional Amateur Radio Club.
