Gong Yuanxing (March 1952-), a native of Shanghai, is a politician and diplomat of the People's Republic of China. In 1974, he graduated from the Foreign Languages Department of Fudan University and entered the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, serving in the Translation Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy in Niger. In 1983, he went to France for further studies at the University of Bordeaux III, the University of Paris III, and Sciences Po in Paris. In 1985, he returned to China and served as third secretary, second secretary, deputy director, first secretary, and director of the Translation Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1994, he served as counselor of the Translation Office of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In 1996, he served as Counselor of the Embassy in Chad. In 1997, he served as counselor of the Embassy in Mali. In August 2001, he served as the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Guinea. In 2004, he served as deputy director of the Foreign Affairs Office of the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. In December 2006, he served as the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Morocco. In 2008, he served as Ambassador of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In November 2009, he served as the Ambassador of the People's Republic of China to Senegal. In August 2012, the ambassador to Senegal resigned.
