Yang Xianhui (1946-), male, from Dongxiang, Gansu Province, is a contemporary Chinese writer. He is famous for his novels "Jiabiangou Chronicles" and "Dingxi Orphanage Chronicles", which describe rightists and the suffering during the Great Famine. These two works use documentary novels to reveal the "special areas" that many people dare not touch. In particular, the realistic descriptions of people falling into desperate situations of starvation under political disasters are shocking and caused a strong shock after their publication. "Jiabiangou Chronicles" (published by Tianjin Ancient Books Publishing House in 2002 and republished by Huacheng Publishing House in 2008 with 12 additional novels) is called "China's Gulag Islands".
