Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson (English: Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson, April 15, 1990 -), British actress, model, director, and social activist. She is known for her roles in blockbusters and independent films as well as her feminist work, and has received a series of honors, including a Young Artist Award and an MTV Video Music Award. Watson has been named one of the world's highest-paid actresses by Forbes and Vanity Fair, and in 2015 was named one of the 100 most influential people in the world by Time Magazine. Born in Paris and raised in Oxfordshire, England, Watson attended the Dragon School as a child and received acting training at the Oxford branch of Stagecoach School of Dramatic Arts. She became famous at the age of 10 when she played the role of Hermione Granger in the "Harry Potter" series. Previously, she had only performed in school plays, and performed in eight "Harry Potter" series of movies released from 2001 to 2011, making her a well-known actress around the world. While performing in the "Harry Potter" film series, Watson also performed in the 2007 film adaptation of the novel "Ballet Shoes" and provided voice acting for the 2008 film "The Big Eared Boy". After the final Harry Potter film, Watson had a supporting role in the 2011 film 7 Days Before Marilyn, and she later achieved critical success playing the flighty, free-spirited student Sam in the 2012 film Diary of a Teenager. Her subsequent accolades came from playing Alexis Niles in Sofia Kopra's 2013 film "Beauty," and as the adopted daughter of the title character in Darren Elonsky's biblical epic "Noah." In the same year, Watson was awarded "British Entertainer of the Year" by the British Academy of Film and Television Arts Awards. Watson later played Belle in the 2017 live-action musical romantic fantasy Beauty and the Beast, which ranks among the highest-grossing films of all time, and Meg in Kitty Garden's 2019 coming-of-age drama Little Women. From 2011 to 2014, Watson divided her time between continuing her studies and working in film, graduating from Brown University in May 2014 with a BA in English Literature. That year, she was named a goodwill ambassador for UN Women and helped launch a coalition advocating for gender equality.
