Ai Takahashi is a Japanese singer and actress, a former member and leader of Morning Musume. Her work also includes stage performances and fashion projects.
Ai Takahashi (September 14, 1986 -) is a Japanese female artist born in Fukui Prefecture. She is affiliated to the entertainment agency UP-FRONT AGENCY and is a member of the fifth phase of the female idol group "Morning Musume." Debuted on August 26, 2001, took over as captain on June 2, 2007, graduated on September 30, 2011, and has been a member for ten years.
She had a wide vocal range and excelled in both treble and bass. She was the only member of the group who could sing smooth bass and loud treble at the time. She has studied ballet since she was a child, has a strong interest in musicals, and loves Japan's Takarazuka Opera Company. Good Morning began to co-organize musicals with the Takarazuka Opera Company in 2006, including "Rincon Knight" and "Cinderella". The leading roles in both musicals were played by Ai Takahashi. She has solid singing skills and outstanding dancing skills. She is considered a relatively powerful member in the group. She has published a large number of photo albums and has caught up with early members Natsumi Abe and Maki Goto very early.
On June 1, 2007, Miki Fujimoto left the team less than a month after taking over as captain, and the captaincy fell to her instantly. Because she spoke with a strong "Fukui accent" and was not good at words, she cried many times because of this and felt that her personality was not suitable for being a captain. It was not until former captains Hitomi Yoshizawa and Yuko Nakazawa comforted her that she just needed to be herself, and she gradually adapted.
In addition to her own work such as recording and concerts, she also regularly participates in radio and television programs, including "MBS Young Town Sunday", which is broadcast daily from 10:00 to 11:30 pm on Saturdays (currently hosted by Akashi Saury, Murakami Saury, Michizugesa Yumi and Takahashi Ai), and TV Tokyo (TX)'s "Yorosen!". On January 8, 2009, she starred in the TV series "Q.E.D.: Final Proof" for the first time, and her acting skills improved by leaps and bounds. After graduation, she also aims to become an actress and is currently active in stage plays and TV series.
On December 22, 2013, she announced on her blog that she would register her marriage with Kimiji Abe on February 14, 2014.
