Jin Runxiang (xiáng) (1890-June 1961), courtesy name Shenyou, was born in Zhenhai, Zhejiang, and graduated from Shanghai Shenzhou Law School. Together with Zhu Meixian, he is a pioneer in China's modern tobacco industry. At the beginning of the 20th century, China's cigarettes were strongly dependent on foreign imports. Jin and Zhu began to trial-produce domestic cigarette paper and build a production line. They also introduced advanced foreign technology and hired foreign experts with large sums of money. The products it produced quickly became successful and popular in the market. Played a role in developing national industry. China's national papermaking industry is quite weak, while foreign-funded companies are strong, occupying a large market share and earning huge profits every year. In order to change this bad situation and resist foreign investment, Jin, Zhu and others actively united with Chinese-owned paper manufacturers to establish the "Domestic Paperboard Joint Sales Office", which improved the overall strength of the national paper industry.
