She is recognized as one of the most important jazz singers of the 20th century, along with Ella Fitzgerald and Sarah Vaughn. Holiday was a groundbreaking jazz and pop singer. Film critic John Bush wrote that she "forever changed the art of American pop singing." Her vocal style was intensely inspired, pioneering a new way of manipulating words and rhythm, and also popularizing a more personal and intimate approach to singing. She created many albums along the way, and the response to each one was very warm, but even when she reached the peak of her life, she was still racially discriminated against, so she created "Strange Fruit" in 1939. This song was only performed on the day of the open cafe performance. She turned off all the lights and roared in the dark. This song also resonated with society. Holiday died of complications from cirrhosis of the liver in 1959. The 2021 American biographical drama film "The United States v. Billie Holiday" tells the story of Holiday's later life.

Mao Mengjing
Political figures · British Hong Kong
Claudia Mo Man-ching (English: Claudia Mo Man-ching, January 18, 1957 -) is a Hong Kong democratic politician and former media worker. Her ancestral home is Ningbo, Zhejiang. She was born in Hong Kong. After the Form 5 examination, she went to Canada to study, and later returned to Hong Kong to work as a reporter. He is a former member of the Civic Party, a member of the Legislative Council of the Kowloon West Constituency of Hong Kong and the convener of the Democratic Party Conference. He was also a part-time lecturer in the Department of Politics and Administration of the Chinese University of Hong Kong. In 2012, Mo Mengjing represented the Civic Party in the 2012 Hong Kong Legislative Council election and was successfully elected in the direct election of the Kowloon West region. During her tenure, she and Fan Guowei advocated that the government take back the authority to approve one-way permits, believing that this would alleviate the welfare burden caused by the substantial increase in what it called "new immigrants with low education". In the 2016 Hong Kong Legislative Council election, Mao was successfully re-elected in the same constituency with the fourth highest number of votes (32,323 votes). On November 14 of the same year, due to differences with the Civic Party on local issues, filibuster and other issues, she officially quit the Civic Party and served as a member of the Legislative Council as a local member of Hong Kong. Mao Mengjing's political position is considered to be self-determination: she supports Hong Kong nativism and opposes mainlandization phenomena such as the use of mainland Chinese terms. In 2013, Mao questioned the Hong Kong government's donation to the Ya'an earthquake in Sichuan, saying that the Chinese government had "bankruptcy of trust" and that the donation was "beneficial to those corrupt officials" and he did not want the Hong Kong government to "generate the Hong Kong people's tax dollars." In 2016, during the Legislative Council inquiry, Mao excitedly accused the primary school textbooks of "brainwashing education" and the content of "We are all Chinese" and the content was "scary to death." However, he also emphasizes the "pragmatic localism" line. Although he agrees that Hong Kong people should have the right to self-determination, he does not support Hong Kong independence and use force to deal with conflicts between China and Hong Kong. His political views are somewhat different from those of the localists. In early 2021, he was sentenced to 50 months in prison for violating Hong Kong's national security law for participating in the pro-democracy primaries for the 2020 Hong Kong Legislative Council election. On April 29, 2025, Mao Mengjing was released from prison after serving his sentence.
