Cui Jian
Cui Jian (Chinese Korean: Choi Geon/Cui Jian, Romanized: Choi Kŏn, August 2, 1961 -), born Cui Jianjun (Choi Geon-gun), is a Beijinger, ethnic Korean, Chinese male singer, and a pioneer of rock in mainland China. He is known as the "Father of Chinese Rock". The famous song is "Nothing" in 1986, and "A Piece of Red Cloth" in 1988 is also a masterpiece. He symbolizes the historical significance of rock music in mainland China from scratch, with his unique hoarse voice and his symbolic image of singing while blindfolded with a red cloth. In the 1980s, albums such as "The Return of the Prodigal Son" and "Rock on the New Long March" were released. In the 1990s, the albums "Resolution", "Eggs Under the Red Flag" and "The Power of Incompetence" were released. In 2005, the album "Give You a Little Color" was released. In the same year, "Howl Records" published a tribute album to Cui Jian, "Who is Cui Jian", which once again showed Cui Jian's status as a senior in the Chinese rock industry. In 2009, "Nothing" was selected into the "Taiwan Pop Music 200 Best Albums". In 2022, he won the Best Chinese Male Singer Award at the 33rd Golden Melody Awards for the "Flying Dog" music album, and also became the first mainland Chinese "Golden Melody Singer" in the history of the Taiwan Golden Melody Awards.
