Luo Dayou (July 20, 1954 -), Taiwanese male singer-songwriter, arranger, music producer, writer and physician. Luo Dayou entered the music scene in 1976 and released his first solo album "Zhi Hu Zhe Ye" in 1982. When it was released, it shocked Taiwanese society, which still had publishing censorship at the time. Some people said that the critical thoughts he created among young intellectuals were like a "black whirlwind." This album raised Chinese music to a whole new level and sounded the death knell of campus folk songs. The album was also ranked first among the "Top 100 Taiwanese Pop Music Albums of 1975-1993". In 1985, Luo Dayou composed a charity song "Tomorrow Will Be Better" that echoed "We Are One World", but it was used by the then one-party government of the Republic of China for election propaganda. Due to pressure from all walks of life and self-confusion, Luo Dayou left Taiwan for New York. In 1986, Luo Dayou moved the center of his work to Hong Kong and founded the production company "Music Factory", which influenced and collaborated with Hong Kong musicians such as Lin Xi, Anita Mui, and Huang Zhan. In 1988, Luo Dayou released "Comrade Lover". The album sold a total of 530,000 copies in Hong Kong and Taiwan, making it Luo Dayou's most commercially successful album. "Love Song 1990" in "Comrade Lover" is the most famous piece in Luo Dayou's love song series. The song has meaningful lyrics and melodious melody. It is one of the most classic love songs in Chinese pop music. While at the Music Factory, Luo Dayou composed "Pearl of the Orient" for Hong Kong, which is considered one of the songs that best represents Hong Kong. From the late 1990s to the 2000s, Luo Dayou's creative pace began to slow down. In 2009, he formed a one-year band "Zongtong Line" with Li Zongsheng, Zhou Huajian, and Zhang Chenyue, and participated in the creation of two albums. In 2017, "Home III" was released. On August 21, 2021, Luo Dayou was awarded the Special Contribution Award at the 32nd Golden Melody Awards.
