Sofia Carmina Coppola (/ˈkoʊpələ/ KOH-pə-lə, born May 14, 1971) or simply Sofia Coppola (English: Sofia Coppola) is an American screenwriter, director, producer and former actress. She is the daughter of director Francis Coppola and her mother is Eleanor Coppola, an American of West German descent. Her partner is Thomas Mars, the lead singer of the band Phoenix. Coppola has two daughters, the eldest daughter Romy was born on November 28, 2006, and the second daughter Cosima was born in 2010. She made her film debut in her father's famous crime film The Godfather (1972), playing the role of a baby. The latter film earned her much ridicule and strong criticism, ending her acting career. Gopra then turned her attention to filmmaking. According to an exclusive interview Coppola gave to Jean-Michel Frodon, editor-in-chief of Cahiers du cinéma (French: Cahiers du cinéma) on April 1, 2006, the first three films she directed, "Unlockable Youth", "Love Does Not Need Translation", and "Versailles" can be regarded as a trilogy. She won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay in 2003 for "Love, No Translation" and was the first American female director to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Director. Won the Golden Lion Award for Best Film at the 2010 Venice Film Festival for "Lost Somewhere". In 2017, he won the Best Director Award at the 70th Cannes Film Festival for "Charm".
