Clinton Eastwood, Jr. (English: Clinton Eastwood, Jr., May 31, 1930 -), American actor, film director, film producer, film score composer and political figure. Eastwood made his first appearance in a B-movie in 1955 and officially entered Hollywood. He became well-known as a regular member of the TV series "Rawhide". In the 1960s, he became a household name after starring in Sergio Leoni's spaghetti westerns "The Good Samaritan Trilogy". His representative works include the heroic detective "The Pursuit" series from the 1970s to the 1980s. Eastwood won the Academy Award for Best Director and the Academy Award for Best Picture for directing "No Mercy" and "The Assassin." He has also directed "The Mist", "Thunderbolt and Scud", "Western Enforcement", "Art" "Escape", "Blackjack", "Pale Rider", "Master Chief", "In the Line of Fire", "Madison Bridge" and "Classic Cars" are among the critically acclaimed films nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actor. Eastwood has only acted in two comedy films, "Never Give Up" and the sequel "Fighter," and the box office performance was quite impressive after accounting for inflation. Eastwood has also directed films in which he did not appear, such as "Mystic River," "Strange Child," and the Academy Award-nominated "Letter from Iwo Jima." Eastwood is very popular among the French. Many films that have not been successful in the United States are quite popular in France. He has been awarded France's highest honorary award twice, namely the French Order of Arts and Letters from the French government in 1994 and the French Legion of Honor in 2007. He won the Honorary Golden Lion at the Venice Film Festival in Italy in 2000. Eastwood founded Malpaso Productions in 1967 to produce American films in which he starred. He served as mayor of Carmel-by-the-Sea, California, in a nonpartisan capacity from 1986 to 1988. Eastwood fathered seven children with five women, but he married only twice.
