George Walton Lucas Jr. (English: George Walton Lucas Jr., May 14, 1944 -) is an American film director, producer and screenwriter. His representative works are the epic "Star Wars" and "Indiana Jones" series (note: screenwriter). Among them, "Star Wars" has a high status in the hearts of Americans, and has also broken many box office records in the United States and around the world. The first "Star Wars" in 1977 had a global box office of 770 million US dollars, becoming the box office champion at the time. If inflation is calculated, the gross profit point is second only to "Gone with the Wind", making it the second highest-grossing movie in history. In 2015, Forbes Magazine estimated Lucas' personal wealth at $5.1 billion. Lucas was born in Modesto, California, where his father, George Walter Lucas Sr., owned a stationery store. While attending Downey High School, Lucas became interested in driving race cars and dreamed of becoming a professional race car driver. But a horrific car accident abruptly interrupts this dream and changes his perspective on life. In the 1960s, Lucas began studying film at the Film and Television Department at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles, one of the first universities dedicated to film. There he made several short films, including an early version of "500 Years Later," which later became his first feature film. After graduation, he founded the American Motion Picture Studio with Francis Coppola, hoping to create an environment for filmmakers to express themselves freely outside the oppressive Hollywood studio system. Although the idea of American moving pictures never really took off, the financial success of his films "American Graffiti" and "Star Wars" allowed Lucas to set up his own studio, Lucasfilm, in Marin County, California, north of his hometown. Skywalker Sound and Light & Magic Industries, the sound effects and visual effects subsidiaries of Lucasfilm, respectively, have become some of the most respected companies in their fields. Lucasfilm Games, later renamed LucasArts, also received very high attention in the computer game industry. "Star Wars" in 1977 is revered by some as the first "high concept" film, although others believe the first was Steven Spielberg's "Jaws" two years earlier. In fact, Lucas and Spielberg had known each other for a long time and collaborated on several subsequent films. Especially Indiana Jones from the first episode in 1981
