He once led the Edmonton Oilers to win the Stanley Cup 4 times, was elected MVP 9 times, and won the scoring title 10 times. He maintains 40 regular season records, 15 playoff records and 6 All-Star Game records, the most famous of which include the highest career cumulative goals, the highest career cumulative assists, the highest career cumulative points, the highest career assists per game, and the highest career points per game (scores in ice hockey are the sum of goals and assists). Gretzky is the only player to score more than 200 points in a regular season (he has done this 4 times), and has 15 seasons with 100 or more points, 13 of which are consecutive. His number, No. 99, has been officially announced by the NHL to retire from the league.
