Michael Schumacher (German: Michael Schumacher, pronunciation: [ˈmɪçaʔeːl ˈʃuːmaxɐ], January 3, 1969 -), or translated into German as Michael Schumacher, a German racing driver, seven-time Formula One World Drivers' Champion, and one of the most successful drivers in the history of Formula One. Schumacher set several Formula One records during his career. In addition, he has 91 race wins, 68 pole positions, 155 podium finishes and 77 fastest laps. Schumacher had already retired at the end of the 2006 season. However, due to Felli Massa's injury in qualifying at the 2009 Hungarian Grand Prix, Ferrari announced that Schumacher would make a comeback starting from the 2009 European Grand Prix. However, Schumacher later announced that he had decided to cancel his plan to return in the Hungarian Grand Prix due to a neck injury. At the beginning of 2010, Schumacher officially announced his comeback and joined the Mercedes team formerly known as Brawn Racing. In October 2012, Schumacher announced that he would retire again after this season. On December 29, 2013, Schumaker had an accident while skiing in the French Alps. His head hit a rock and he was severely injured and fell into a coma. On January 22, 2014, Schumacher fell into a coma for more than three weeks after a skiing accident. The chance of recovery was reduced. Experts predict that Schumacher may become a permanent vegetative state. But on April 5, 2014, Schumacher's spokesman announced the latest news, saying that the car king, who had been in a coma for three consecutive months, was gradually showing signs of waking up. On June 16, 2014, Schumaker's spokesman Ken said that Schumaker was out of coma and left the hospital where he was treated in France after the skiing accident and transferred to a Swiss hospital. On July 31, 2019, before the 2019 Hungarian Grand Prix, FIA President Jean Todt confirmed that Schumacher was awake and could watch the live broadcast of Formula One racing. At the 2019 German Grand Prix the previous week, his son Mick Schumacher had performed in a Ferrari F2004 car that was almost invincible in 2004. His younger brother Ralf Schumacher is also a Formula One driver and once participated in the German Touring Car Racing in Germany, so Michael Schumacher is sometimes called "Big Schumacher". His son Mick Schumacher will also become a Formula One driver starting from the 2021 season.
