Marc-Vivien Foé (May 1, 1975 - June 26, 2003) was a Cameroonian male professional football player who played as a defensive midfielder. Fu started his career with Cameroon's local team Yaounde Cannonballs, and then played in European football, playing for French Ligue 1 club Lens, Premier League club West Ham, French Ligue 1 powerhouse Lyon, and Premier League club Manchester City. On June 26, 2003, Fozai suddenly died of a heart attack in the 72nd minute while representing the Cameroon national football team against the Colombian football team in the semi-finals of the Intercontinental Cup in Lyon, France. This shocked the international football world. After medical evaluation, the cause of death was hypertrophic cardiomyopathy. The International Football Federation later changed the Confederations Cup to be held every four years from 2005 to the host country of the next year's World Cup. During his lifetime, Fu played 62 times for the national team and scored 8 goals.
