Piermario Morosini (July 5, 1986 - April 14, 2012) was an Italian professional football player who played as a midfielder. On April 14, 2012, he suddenly fell to the ground during a match between Pescara Football Club and Livorno Football Club. Afterwards, he tried to stand up, but fell unconscious and suffered cardiac arrest. Upon seeing this, the team doctor on the court immediately rushed to his side and used an automated external defibrillator to rescue him. He was then put on a stretcher, still conscious. He eventually died on the way to the hospital. All Italian Football League matches were suspended for the weekend on which Piermario Morosini died. Livorno Football Club and Vicenza Football Club have decided to permanently retire the number 25 jersey worn by Piermario Morosini during his lifetime.
