Zhou Lie — biography

Zhou Lie (May 1954-) is a Chinese linguist and educator. Born in Zhuji, Zhejiang in 1954, he received a bachelor's degree in Arabic from Beijing Foreign Studies University in 1978. He studied in Syria, Egypt and Yemen. Obtained PhD degree in 2000. In September 1998, he served as Vice President of Beijing Foreign Studies University. In December 2002, he was promoted to Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee. In April 2008, he joined Beijing International Studies University as President. In November 2014, he resigned as President and still served as Director of the Academic Committee.
