Ferruccio Busoni
Ferruccio Dante Michelangelo Benvenuto Busoni (Italian: Ferruccio Dante Michelangelo Benvenuto Busoni; April 1, 1866 - July 27, 1924) was an Italian pianist and composer. Although he is Italian, Busoni's works are completely German and Austrian style. Influenced by Liszt and Brahms in his early days, his works are magnificent and technically difficult. In his later years, he advocated neoclassicism and proposed ideas such as electronic music, and was regarded as a twentieth-century classical music composer. Busoni was also a great pianist and left several precious recordings. He arranged many of Bach's organ works and the unaccompanied violin piece "Chacon" for piano, among others. As an important performer at that time, Busoni's review of works, including the marking of fingerings, etc., was regarded as a standard by music publishing houses.
