Lorde
Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor (English: Ella Marija Lani Yelich-O'Connor, born November 7, 1996), whose stage name is Lorde (/ˈlɔːrd/), is a New Zealand singer, songwriter and music producer. She was born in Takapuna in the Auckland metropolitan area and grew up in Devonport in the same metropolitan area. She began singing and performing in plays at school as a child, and signed with Universal Music when she was 13 years old. Her stage name "Lorde" comes from the English word "Lord". She took this stage name because she was obsessed with "royalty and nobility", but the word "Lord" itself was too masculine, so she added a feminine suffix "e" as her stage name. In November 2012, Lorde released his first mini-album called "Love Club", and his first single "Noble" topped the New Zealand singles chart as soon as it was released. In 2013, the single reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100, making her the first New Zealand solo artist to have a number one single in the United States. In September 2013, she released her first album "Pure Heroine", which received widespread acclaim around the world and was a great commercial success. Lorde has received many different awards and honors around the world. At the 56th Grammy Awards in January 2014, Lorde received four nominations and won two awards for "Song of the Year" and "Best Pop Vocal Performance", becoming one of the youngest winners in the history of the award. In February of the same year, she also won the Brit Award for "Best International Female Artist".
