Jack Nicholson
Jack Nicholson (English: Jack Nicholson, /dʒækˈnɪkəlsən/; April 22, 1937 -), whose real name is John Joseph Nicholson, is an American actor, film director, producer and screenwriter. He is generally regarded as one of the best actors in the history of film. In his acting career that has spanned more than half a century, Nicholson has played many challenging roles, including a large number of positive and negative characters with mental illnesses such as paranoia and even neurosis. For example, Batman's villain, the Joker, has been nominated for 12 Academy Awards (commonly known as Oscars) so far, making him the most nominated actor in history. Nicholson has won the Academy Award for Best Actor twice, the 48th Academy Award for Best Actor for "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" in 1975, and the 70th Academy Award for Best Actor for "As Good As It Gets" in 1997. He also won the 56th Academy Award for Supporting Actor for the 1983 movie "Love Agreement". As a result, he, Daniel Day-Lewis and Walter Brennan, became the only three actors in history to win the Academy Award three times. Among them, Daniel won the Lead Actor Award three times, Walter won the Supporting Actor Award three times, and only Jack won two awards. Nicholson is known for playing villains, most notably the Joker in "Batman," Jack Torrance in "The Shining," and Frank Costello in "The Departed." Nicholson has won the Golden Globe Award six times and received the Kennedy Center Honor Award in 2001. He and Michael Caine, another famous actor, are the only two actors in history to have been nominated for an Academy Award in every decade (each decade is a decade) from the 1960s to today. In 1994, he became the youngest actor in history to receive the American Film Institute (AFI) Lifetime Achievement Award. Among the more famous films he starred in are: "Chinatown", "Five Pieces", "The Shining", "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest", "Batman", "Love Agreement", "Reds", "As Good As It Gets", "The Last Detail", "Journalist", "The Wolfman", "A Few Good Men", "The Order", "The Departed", "About Schmidt" and "Love".
