Kwon Yuya (Korean: Kwon Bo-ah, Romanized: Kwon Bo-a, often written as Kwon Bo-ah; November 5, 1986 -), known by her stage name Bo-a (Korean: boa, Romanized: BoA, Japanese: boa), was a female singer, dancer, songwriter and company director under South Korea's SM Entertainment. She is the first generation of Korean female singers alongside Lee Hyori and Jang Nara. On August 25, 2000, they officially debuted with their first Korean regular album "ID; Peace B". On March 13, 2002, she released her first Japanese album "LISTEN TO MY HEART" in Japan. Sales exceeded one million copies, making her the first Korean singer to have a breakthrough in Japan. On October 14, 2008, BoA released her first English single "Eat You Up", and released her first English album "BoA" on March 17, 2009. BoA's success in East Asia lies in her ability to speak multiple languages (native Korean, Japanese and English, and she has also recorded several Chinese songs). She is the only foreign singer to have sold more than one million copies of her three albums in Japan. Besides Ayumi Hamasaki, she has six consecutive No. 1 albums on the Oricon charts. BoA's Korean official fan club fan name is "Jumping BoA", Japan's official fan club fan name is "SOUL", and the official support color is lemon yellow.
