Liu Wen — biography

Liu Wen (1966-), a native of Wuhu, Anhui Province, is a Chinese documentary director. In 1988, he obtained a bachelor's degree in law from the Television Department of Beijing Broadcasting Institute, majoring in television photography, and then stayed at Beijing Broadcasting Institute to teach. In 1991, Liu Wen was transferred to the Special Topic Department of the Overseas Center of CCTV and served successively as editor, director and photographer of "China Report", producer of "Chinese Medicine", deputy director of the overseas special department, chief producer and chief editor-director of the large-scale TV documentary "Reminding the Yangtze River Again", founder of the "Chinese Medicine" and "Traveling in China" columns, and has written, directed and photographed more than 100 TV films (collections). In January 2011, he was appointed as the Director of the Documentary Channel of CCTV. He is a senior editor of CCTV. He also served as the Deputy Director of the Chinese International Channel of CCTV. While serving as the director of the CCTV Documentary Channel, he launched the documentary "A Bite of China", which aroused great repercussions. On July 30, 2014, Liu Wen was taken away by the prosecutors. There were rumors that he had financial problems in the procurement and production of documentaries.
