Zhang Lu (Korean: Jangryul; May 30, 1962 -) is a Korean-Chinese film director and screenwriter. Before starting his film career, he was a novelist. In the early stage of his works, he mainly focused on people who were deprived of their rights, especially the Koreans living in China. After 2012, he moved to South Korea to start writing and settled there. The theme changed into the ambiguity between dreams and reality, the texture of the integration of region, space, and landscape, and the interactive relationship between the characters' identities. In addition to his film career, he also serves as a professor at Yonsei University in the Department of Culture and Media at the School of International Talents and the Department of Imaging at the Graduate School of Communication.
