Dmitriy Ivanovich Mendeleyev (Russian: Дми́трий Ива́нович Менделе́ев; Romanized: Dmitriy Ivanovich Mendeleyev; February 8, 1834 – February 2, 1907) was a 19th-century Russian chemist who discovered the periodicity of chemical elements. He, Julius von Maier and Bergès de Chancourtois compiled the world's first periodic table of elements respectively, and used this to predict some elements that had not yet been discovered. Because of their compilation, they became the founders of the periodic table of elements and pointed the way for later generations to discover new elements.
