Milan Kundera

Milan Kundera (Czech: Milan Kundera, Czech pronunciation: [ˈmɪlan ˈkundɛra]; April 1, 1929 - July 11, 2023) was a Czech-French writer born in Brno, Czechoslovakia. He went into exile in France in 1975, became a naturalized French citizen in 1981, and regained Czech citizenship in 2019. In an interview in his later years, he claimed to be a French writer and believed that his works should be classified as French literature. Famous works include "The Unbearable Lightness of Life", "The Book of Laughter and Forgetting", etc. Before the Velvet Revolution in 1989, his works were banned in Czechoslovakia for a long time. He rarely gave interviews to the media and may have been nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature, but he never won one in his lifetime. On July 11, 2023, Milan Kundera passed away due to a long illness at the age of 94.
