Jia Pingwa

Jia Pingwa (āo) (March 16, 1952 -), whose original name was Jia Pingwa, later changed to "Pingwa (āo)" (taking the interpretation of "wa", which means "smooth road"), was born in Danfeng, Shaanxi Province, a contemporary writer in mainland China, a director of the Chinese Writers Association, and the chairman of the Shaanxi Provincial Writers Association. He is currently the Dean of the School of Humanities at Xi'an University of Architecture and Technology. In December 2016, he was elected as the Vice Chairman of the 9th Chinese Writers Association.
